JEGGAN COLE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION DONATES TO EDWARD FRANCIS SMALL TEACHING HOSPITAL
The Jeggan Cole Memorial Foundation (JCMF) on Tuesday December 22 donated medical supplies to the Intensive Care Unit and the Physiotherapy Unit of the Edward Francis Small Hospital in Banjul. The presentation ceremony was held on the hospital grounds in Banjul. The items comprised boxes of surgical gauze, bandages, gloves syringes and other items including medications. Back and body braces, crutches, weights, hand braces were among the items destined for the Physiotherapy Unit.
The JCMF was recently established in honor and memory of Jeggan Cole a Gambian who was pursuing a postgraduate program in the United States but sadly fell ill and passed away earlier this year. The Jeggan Cole Foundation was birthed to live out Jeggan’s dreams and aspirations. Reaching out to communities through education and volunteering remain the primary objective of the Foundation; areas that Jeggan was passionate about during his brief but productive life. In 2015 the Foundation will support the education of 6 needy but deserving students in upper basic schools.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Foundation Board of Trustees, Ms Pamela Cole expressed her delight at being able to make a modest donation to the ICU and Physiotherapy units of the hospital. According to Ms. Cole it is hoped that the medical supplies will go towards the welfare of in-patients. The Coordinator of the Foundation expressed similar sentiments and thanked the hospital for their cooperation.
In receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, Mr Momodou Lamin Jammeh the PRO expressed delight for the fine gesture, noting that indeed good can come out of seemingly sad situations such as this one. He further remarked that the donation was timely which the patients will certainly benefit from.
In her vote of thanks, Mrs Fatou Nyabally expressed gratitude and assured the Foundation that the supplies will go directly toward the critical care of the patients particularly those of the Intensive care unit; the physiotherapy equipment will also boost the recovery effort of physically challenged patients of the unit.
