Jeggen Cole Memorial Foundation (JCMF) recently awarded scholarship to various students within the Greater Banjul Area.
The 2015 scholarship includes uniforms, shoes, bags, socks, school supplies, hygiene products, textbooks, readers as well as financial support.
JCMF is a registered charity organisation, established in 2014, to support the education of young people in a holistic manner.
For the second year in a row, the foundation has awarded 15 scholarships to struggling but deserving students in upper basic and senior secondary schools in the Greater Banjul Area.
Mammy Nyomi Danso advised recipients to cherish the unique opportunity provided by the foundation and continue to work hard in school.
Giving a motivational speech, Ms Danso said education is one of the avenues to free oneself from the shackles of poverty.
She also advised the students to maintain good behaviour as it complements good academic performance.
Anna Jones thanked the parents, guardians and all those who attended the scholarship awards ceremony.
She told the recipients to make good use of the scholarship and remain good ambassadors of the foundation.
Odette Mendy, a scholarship recipient, thanked the donors and their partners for their support and assured that they would continue to work “very hard” to maintain their good grades and behaviour in and outside of school.
In order to cater for the holistic development of students, JCMF also runs a mentorship programme to mentor people in education.
The objective is to provide hands on support to mentees in their educational journey for them to realize their potentials so that will contribute meaningfully to the community.
