JCMF 2024 ACTIVITY REPORT

July 2, 2025

Christmas Donation to the Elderly

In 2023, JCMF strategically expanded its beneficiaries to include Christian elderly members of the community. For the second consecutive year, JCMF presented Christmas food donations to the elderly and clergy of the Methodist Church of The Gambia during the church’s annual Christmas celebrations. The donations included both dry and wet food items.

Members of JCMF presented the donations and interacted with the recipients. At the close of the gathering, the Bishop of the Methodist Church and the clergy present expressed their appreciation to JCMF for the kind donations. Future plans for JCMF include incorporating talks on geriatric care and introducing board games to enhance these gatherings. Overall, it was a rewarding experience for all involved.

Medical Donations to Brikamaba Health Centre

As part of JCMF’s 2024 activities, donations were also made to the Brikamaba Health Centre in the Central River Region. This health center serves a large, impoverished rural community with very limited resources. Medical supplies such as catheters, over-the-counter medications, bandages and gauze, blankets, bed sheets, and scrubs were presented to the clinic. This donation ensured that the twenty-four-bed clinic once again had an adequate supply of sheets for daily use. Both nurses and patients expressed their gratitude for this timely contribution. A past JCMF scholar, Odeth Mendy, who is currently working at the clinic as a registered nurse, was present to receive the donations on behalf of the Foundation.

JCMF Donates to Marakissa Methodist School

JCMF’s primary focus is education and improving the learning environment for students. The St. George’s library project was successfully completed and handed over to the school in 2023. The focus has now shifted to the Marakissa Methodist School in Marakissa, a location approximately 50 km from the capital city of Banjul, making it more accessible and ensuring sustainability. For the past two years, JCMF has been donating school supplies to this school. The donated items included library books, stationery, exercise books, board games, toys, arts and crafts materials, as well as home science supplies.

The Headteacher, Mr. Juwara, a teacher representative, and Reverend Bass received the items. JCMF representatives were given a tour of the school premises, with a particular focus on the library. It was encouraging to witness the previous year’s donated materials being utilized effectively by both staff and students. JCMF held a meeting with the school administration to discuss their needs and potential future donations. Among the productive discussions was the topic of the school library and how to enhance its functionality. At the conclusion of the visit, the Headteacher, Mr. Jawara, and Reverend Bass expressed their sincere thanks to JCMF for the timely donation and assured them that the items would be put to excellent use.

MISCELLANEOUS DONATIONS

The Bakau Methodist Church Sunday School also received twenty Easter buckets filled with eggs for their egg hunt.

The Missionary Childhood of St. Joseph’s Parish, Basse, benefitted from the Jeggan Cole 2024 Christmas donations of confectionery items. The priest in charge, along with my daughters, assisted with the distribution. The smiles on the children’s faces were truly heartwarming.

This concludes JCMF’s 2024 outreach activities. We give all the glory to God. It is remarkable how small acts of kindness can become such a significant blessing for so many individuals.
